83Degrees has launched a premium stream Twitter service, SuperChirp.com. The service uses direct messages through your existing Twitter account, which subscribers can sign up to receive through a subscription membership through the site.
Imagine the uses – premium content from Dell. PDiddy sending music scene memos to you for $.99/month. Or the bonus for charity groups trying supplement their donations. The possibilities are endless, and while this isn’t Twitter figuring out a business model (how they hadn’t jumped on this from the start, we don’t know), it is a potential revenue stream for you and your business.
Two new words for the twitterverse:
chirp – a direct message sent via Twitter to a paying subscriber
subscriber – someone who pays a small monthly fee for chirps of information
- SUPER CHIRP allows you to “chirp” via direct message to people who pay to “subscribe” to you.
- It works with your existing Twitter account. You chirp by sending a direct message to superchirp.
- You set the monthly price ($0.99 to $9.99) and we handle the recurring billing. You keep 70%.
- Charge for timely news or premium content. Grant exclusive access. Promote a charity.
