ChaCha Search

chachaMany people have heard of the text message service ChaCha that magically answers any question you ask within minutes.  You send a question via text or voicemail to ChaCha, and they respond in a couple of minutes with an answer.  How do they do this so quickly?  ChaCha employees utilize ChaCha quicklinks to drill right to your question’s answer.  What you probably don’t know, however, is that you can take advantage of their exceptionally designed search functionality, built for speed, to bolster your own search results.

What is Quicklinks?
ChaCha quicklinks is half Google search, half custom-information modules.  The Google search function loads in-page, meaning your screen does not refresh with search results, it just load them for you instantly.  The custom modules expand into pages of their own, and serve as a portal to specified locations in the web that deliver the information you are seeking.

For example, if I want to know the score of the Cubs game today, I would click “Baseball” from the landing page, and then scoreboard – which displays Yahoo! Sports MLB Scoreboard.  This type of functionality is built out for all modules, which include:

  • Entertainment
  • Sports
  • Travel
  • Language
  • Politics/Gov
  • Lifestyle
  • Business
  • Society
  • SciTech
  • Health
  • Explicit

Additionally, the site contains a “hot topics” navigation bar, instantly shuttling you to topics that are in the news or frequently searched.

In terms of information portals, ChaCha quicklinks is designed to serve up the information you are seeking by the fastest means possible.  That means an excellent business tool for their employees, and a fantastic information portal for you.
