What do colors mean?

colorYou hear a lot about colors and the emotions they represent, how they can change the way a person feels, and how important they can be in communicating your message.  That’s all fine and dandy, but if you don’t know, at the core, what they are supposed to represent and how to match them together, you’re going to wind up sending mixed signals.  So, to prevent you from inadvertently communicating to your guests, customers, clients, etc. that you are depressed and hate them, we’ve pulled together a few resources.

  1. Orange Underpants – Your Key to Emotional Success: This eBook may look old, but it was written by one of the leaders in color psychology, Deborah Borg-Sayer.  It runs $47 and will teach you everything you need to know about how color affects the psyche.
  1. Signage & Color Contrast – A brief, simple explanation of colors and how to match them up.
  2. HP: The Meaning of Color – Colors and what they represent
  3. Kuler – Adobe’s incredibly nifty color coordinator

Using the tools above, you should have everything you need to avoid sending a message that doesn’t align with your brand promise.
