MSNBC's Inauguration Player – Powered by nexidia

nexidiaWhen we first reported on the innovative and groundbreaking new MSNBC player, recently launched for the Inauguration of President Barack Obama, we wondered who would be tagging all of the audio/video content to allow for the incredibly hands-on viewing experience..

According to an announcement today, nexidia has been awarded that honor.

MSNBC.com Selects Nexidia to Enhance Online Video Content

From Sadie Upchurch of Glinting Communications:

Nexidia provides the indexing and clipping functionality… and MSNBC will be leveraging Nexidia’s rich media tools to make much of its on-air and archived video content easier to search and navigate.

In looking to Nexidia to provide highly-navigable and sharable video to their communities, MSNBC is joining leading content producers and aggregators…

The ability to analyze and process recorded audio presents a number of opportunities across all fields.  Having used the MSNBC player, the tagging and keyword search process is truly remarkable, and serves as the first time technology has been implemented on a broad scale to the consumer market.  If nothing else, the systems will be heavily tested.

Time will only tell if nexidia’s technologies will take the audio/video analysis bull by the horns.  But with their relationship with MSNBC, the capabilities of the player, and the audience the product will be put in front of, it is safe to say they have certainly stepped into the ring.
